Next step to the end of the crossing over D4. Prague will buy land for the subway
The subway is to start construction next year, replacing the dangerous crossing.
In Prague-Zbraslav, the pedestrian crossing will disappear from the D4 motorway and will be replaced by an underpass. Today, Prague representatives approved the purchase of land, which is necessary for its construction. To start construction, the city remains to get one more. The purchase of 232 square meters will cost the city 360,000 crowns. It is not yet clear exactly when the construction of the subway will begin and how much it will cost.
The city has ready documentation for obtaining a building permit, which the office is currently discussing with the authorities concerned. Prague lacks to buy another plot of land, which is in the process of inheritance. It will be enough for the city to have all the necessary land and documents, and will hand over the project to the state Directorate of Roads and Motorways (ŘSD), which will build the subway. Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě) said last week that construction should begin last year. D4 is owned and managed by ŘSD.
At present, there is a common crossing on the four-lane road, which leads from Za Dálnicí Street to Lesáků Street. According to the municipality, it is a place of frequent car accidents with pedestrians and at the same time an obstacle to the flow of traffic. Drivers here have to slow down from 80 like this in an hour to fifty.
At the end of 2019, the Technical Administration of Roads (TSK) had a nearby bridge torn down due to its poor condition, which begins in the direction from Prague with an exit ramp and leads across Strakonická towards K Výtopně and Za Opusem streets. A new one was created in its place.
