Polyclinic Pod Marjánkou will get a new coat. Prague 6 has announced a competition for its design Prague 6 | From the region Pražská Drbna
The city district of Prague 6 has announced a competition for the design of a new form of the Pod Marjánkou polyclinic in Břevnov, which it manages. Among other things, the participants in the competition should design a new form of the main building and a form of a new building that will replace the current lower part of the polyclinic. The winning design should be known in 2022. The repair of the polyclinic should cost an estimated 500 million crowns without VAT. This follows from the documents for the published contract.
The clinic will be renewed in stages
The polyclinic in Břevnov opened under the name Polyclinic Břevnov in 1963, when it was to serve up to 45,000 inhabitants in the given catchment area. Prague 6 has been managing this medical facility since 2006.
According to Prague 6, the Břevnov Polyclinic, which is in poor technical condition, will be restored in stages. The reason is the commitment of the town hall from 2006, when the city district took over the medical facility, that it would provide medical services in the polyclinic without interruption. Therefore, a new part of the polyclinic will be built on the site of the current low building, to which the necessary medical services, which are now located in the main building, will be moved. Subsequently, the high-rise building will be reconstructed. Some health services will be relocated from ports after the main building has been repaired and will be complemented by laboratories, rehabilitation and other facilities. In a low new building, there should be especially doctor’s surgeries.
Participants in the two-phase architectural and urban planning competition should propose in their proposals both the layout of the polyclinic during the reconstruction and the final layout of the polyclinic. In addition, the competitors will have to design care facilities in the main building of the polyclinic, solve other parking in the area and insulation of the building. However, the condition of the town hall is that the new silhouette and characteristic elements of the high-rise building of the polyclinic, the appearance of which is the work of architect Richard Podzemný, must be preserved.
The winner of the competition will receive a reward of 1.6 million crowns
Those interested in participating in the competition can apply until October 8. From the submitted applications, the jury, headed by architect Petr Vávra, will select a maximum of ten participants, who will be able to submit a competition proposal by February 2022. The jury will pre-select five finalists. They will be able to submit their proposals in an expanded form by May 26, 2022. The winner of the competition, who will receive a reward of 1.6 million crowns, should then prepare project documentation for completion and reconstruction.
Prague 6 has been preparing its largest investment project for several years, as previously stated by the councilor of the sixth city district Eva Smutná (safe for TOP 09), which is responsible for, among other things, the strategic development of Prague 6. million crowns without VAT. The announced competition should verify the expected costs. The town hall preliminarily plans to start building the new building in 2025. According to the information provided in the architectural competition, the reconstruction of the high-rise building of the Pod Marjánkou polyclinic should begin approximately two years later.
