Prague is looking for the first stamp for trolleybuses from Smíchov to Jinonice
DPP expects to build an overhead line in 2023.
Plans for electrifying part of the bus operation in Prague are taking on their first concrete form. Dopravní podnik hl. The City of Prague (DPP) sent plans for the construction of a trolley between the Na Knížecí and U Waltrovky stops to the permitting process. Buses of line 137 should be renewed here by trolleybus line 52 if necessary.
Currently running so-called investigation procedure, which is to show whether it will be necessary to assess the construction more in terms of environmental impact. Prague is approaching electrification in order to reduce emissions from public transport. There should be a total of 2.2 kilometers long under the trolleys. Prague has seen before that it is counting on the deployment of partial trolleybuses, which can run thanks to the battery even partially outside the trolleybuses. The announcement for DPP was prepared by Pragoprojekt.
According to the plan, a new substation will be built next to the line in Peroutkova Street, and Na Knížecí will have a place for recharging. In the adjoining section Nové Butovice – Malá Ohrada, electrification is no longer planned due to low frequencies. DPP wants to coordinate the construction with the planned modification of Peroutkova Street.
A billion in trolleybus infrastructure
Line 137 is the first for which the DPP applies for a permit on the left-bank part of Prague. DPP expects to start building trolleybuses in the middle of 2023. In addition, it wants to gradually electrify lines 131, 176 and 191. The city is also preparing the deployment of trolleybuses for energy 119 at Václav Havel Airport, electrification of line 140 from Palmovka to Miškovice. He already has a building permit and trolleybus competitions for this route. There are also plans to extend it to Brandýs and Kostelec nad Labem.
Prague approved the plan to electrify part of the left-bank lines last June. She chose the lines that lead through the residential areas. In this way, noise and emissions would be reduced compared to the current operation.
According to an estimate, the most financially demanding is the electrification of lines 191, which run from the Na Knížecí stop via Ciolkovského to Václav Havel Prague Airport. The price is estimated at 580 million. The costs for line 176 are estimated at 320 million and for lines 137 and 131 it is 220 million and 200 million crowns, respectively. The technical facilities in Řepy’s garages will cost 130 million. DPP will want to obtain money from European funds for the entire electrification project of the mentioned lines.
