The Czech capital launched the campaign last year and attracted about 70,000 visitors to the city over the summer. Detailed information and registration are on the website At home in Prague.
“The situation in tourism is complicated. In Prague, we try to attract tourists, both Czech and foreign, back to the city. Last year, we made the In Prague at Home campaign, which had fantastic results, and we said to ourselves that we would like to continue it this year as well, “said Councilor Hana Třeštíková (Prague to Herself).
People receive the voucher electronically, once they book a hotel. Tourists will be able to use the voucher for free or discounted admission to selected monuments such as the Jewish Museum, the Vyšehrad National Cultural Monument or the Prague Towers, which are managed by Prague City Tourism (PCT). Compared to last year, it will also be possible to use vouchers for live cultural events, such as summer theater stages. They will also be used for guide services.
“We want to support both hotels and restaurants, as well as Prague’s monuments and cultural institutions in their restart and attract as many tourists to the capital during the summer holidays as possible. The cooperation with the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of the Czech Republic worked great in the preparation of the program, “said František Cipro, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PCT.
Tourist tram
A novelty this year will be the operation of the circular tourist tram number 42. It will travel from the loop in Dlabačov through Prague Castle, Čechův most, Náměstí republiky, Václavské náměstí and from there to Újezd and back via Malostranská direction to Pohořelec. “Complete it with line number 43, which will connect our public transport museum, Planetarium and more. He will ride on public holidays and weekends, “said DPP CEO Petr Witowski.
An audio guide will be prepared for both lines. The ticket will not be valid on other public transport lines and will cost 200 crowns. Pay 24 hours for both lines and it will be possible to pay for it cashless in the car. There will be three cars from the times of Austria-Hungary, four from the 1st Republic and also T1, T2 and T3. “Which one is going to go, we will put on social networks and on the Internet,” Witowski added.
Targeting mainly to the Czech Republic
As last year, the campaign will target Czech tourists in particular. At the same time, PCT and the CzechTourism agency are preparing a campaign aimed at foreign tourists. It will focus mainly on Germany, Poland, Austria and Slovakia. The face of the project will again be Matěj Ruppert. In addition to standard videos, the creation of 20 instastories, the publicist from the show Boys from Prague Janek Rubeš will also be involved in the promotion.
On Monday, the city council approved the campaign. It will be launched from June 15 for all major media carriers. The voucher system starts on July 1, when people will be able to use the vouchers until August 31.
Last year, the In Prague at Home program attracted 73,000 visitors, who spent an average of 3.2 nights in the capital. “The number of domestic visitors increased year-on-year. Tourists spent over 220 million crowns, “said Cipro. More than 60 monuments and cultural facilities took part in the program for 400 hotels and boarding houses. Last year, the municipality invested 121 million crowns in the campaign. PCT cities have returned 50 million of them, which they will use this year.
