Sedlec-Prčice (Příbramsko) -The organizers canceled this year’s Prague-Prčice march, which was postponed from May to June due to a pandemic. It was not possible to meet the conditions regarding the number of participants or to obtain a positive opinion of the Chief Hygienist for the town of Sedlec-Prčice, the organizers stated in their the web. Today’s Mladá fronta Dnes pointed this out. The 55th year will not take place until May 21, 2022. Last year, the event also did not take place due to the epidemic.
The organizers previously postponed the date of this year’s march, which is the most popular domestic event of its kind, from 15 May to 13 June. To participate, a smartphone was required and electronic registration is planned.
In the end, however, the march will not take place even in June. The organizers stated that despite the efforts to organize the event to exclude all epidemic risks, they did not meet the conditions regarding the number of people or obtain a positive opinion of the chief hygienists, which were a condition for the consent of the city of Sedlec-Prčice to organize the march. Therefore, they were forced to cancel this year’s march.
“In order to take advantage of this year’s work of the routes and ours, we must convert the current year of the march into an electronic version, which will allow you to walk several routes independently during the holidays. Detailed instructions will be available here (on the web) in the second half of June, “they added.
The legendary march has been taking place since 1966, when five hundred tourists set out to cover a distance of 100,000 Czech elbows, which corresponds to approximately 60 kilometers. Last year, over 26,000 tourists took part.
