Metropolis Zubři na východe, cable car or floating spa. Prague will be full of new attractions
Since yesterday, Převalský’s horses, which were brought here from the Prague Zoo, have been racing around Dívčí hrady. Visitors to the Děvín hill can also use the new observatories. On the occasion of releasing four mares into the corral, the Metro daily compiled an overview of other attractions that are to be created in the capital in the near future.
Bison
The Prague Zoo wants to build a similar fence as in Děvín in an unspecified place in the east of the metropolis. The zoo here requires semi-wild breeding of bison. He already has extensive experience with him. This zoo was the first in the Czech Republic to breed purebred bison. The first male Platan became its inhabitant already in 1948. Until last year, the Prague Zoo bred 80 cubs. Some additions there then strengthened the population of bison in Poland or the Caucasus.
Semi-wild bison breeding is to take place on the eastern edge of the metropolis.
Swimming pool
Last year it opened for a few weeks and only in test operation. It will be different this year. We are talking about the Baden Baden swimming pool. It lies on the northern shore of the eastern part of the island of Štvanice. This year, a wooden pier, a beach volleyball court and a paddleboard rental are also to be built here.
Floating spa
Three years ago, there was talk of a floating spa under Vyšehrad. The boat is just a few meters from the shore to have a swimming pool, spa and restaurant. The spa is to be established last year, but according to information from the Metro newspaper, the new nature will not be moored at Rašínovo nábřeží this year either. However, it is planned for the future.
Water sports
We will still stay on the Vltava. Recently, councilors approved the purchase of land in Troja, which is necessary for the construction of the Water Sports Park. It will be designed primarily for training in water slalom, rafting or white water rodeo. The bay on the lower reaches of the canal has recreational boating and fishing in the following services. In the coming years, the city wants to modify the current slalom tracks for recreational rafting on the Vltava. It is not clear when the complex will be finished.
Promenade
The date for the change is the opening of the Railway Promenade, which will connect Vršovice and Zahradní Město. It is to be completed in June 2024. The promenade for cyclists or skaters is being built in places where the railway led until recently. Some elements should remind you of this. In addition to the original tracks, lighting towers, sleepers or traffic lights have been preserved in several places.
Cableway
A big attraction can also be the new cable car that connects Podbaba with Bohnice. Representatives gave the project the green light last summer. It must now undergo an environmental impact assessment. The two and a half kilometer journey should take seven minutes.
The cable car to Petřín will also become an old-new attraction. After 40 years, it will get new cars and a track. Operation will be suspended for eight months during the repair. It is not yet clear exactly when it will be. The city and the transport company will organize a design competition for the new look of the cars.
