The new tram line from Modřany to Libuše is to cost 350 million crowns
Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague has launched an event, at the end of which will be a new tram line in the south of the metropolis. The company announced a tender for the construction of approximately two kilometers of the line from Modřany to Libuše. The estimated costs are 350 million crowns, the investor has a building permit since February.
The 1.7 km long Modřany – Libuš line will have four pairs of stops. It will connect to the existing turning point Sídliště Modřany, from where it will lead along Generála Šišky Street to the Libuš housing estate and the intersection with Novodvorská Street, to which it will turn. After Novodvorská, it will lead to the future metro station D Libuš, to the level of the current bus stop Pavlíkova, where the dead end will end.
To the Nové Dvory metro station
The original project provided for the construction of a tram loop at the Libuš D metro station, where the Modřany – Libuš line ended. Last year, however, the Capital City Council decided to extend the route by 1.8 kilometers to the future metro station D Nové Dvory. Therefore, at the D Libuš metro station, only a dead end will be created at first, and then, in agreement with the landowners, a temporary loop. This will be canceled after the track has been extended.
“The extension of the tram line to Libuše will enable not only better transport to the center, but also a significant improvement in local transport relations in Prague 12, where there will be a new direct connection to the authorities, doctors or leisure activities for the area adjacent to Libuše,” said the deputy mayor of Prague recently. . 12 Vojtech Kos (ODS).
The transport company assumes that construction will begin in October and end at the end of 2022.
