Horní Libeň is preparing a “Suez Canal”. The locals and the town hall are bothered by street closures
The Libeňský mourek Facebook page responded to citizens’ problems on Saturday. The municipality announced that the city company Pražská vodohospodářská společnost is closing Vosmíkových Street in the section Na dědince – Na stráži at the end of April due to the necessary reconstruction of sewers, which according to the article “currently replaces the role of transport artery (Libeňská spojka is in sight.”
“And in order for it to have a bit of ‘juice’, Prosecká will also be closed again during the year,” Libeňský mourek pointed out the next stage of sewer reconstruction at another location. “The event should be completed by November this year, including a complete repair of the road surface,” the municipality informed of the plan for these works.
Libeňský mourek ironically adds that the inhabitants of Horní Libno have nothing to worry about, because the residential zone in Na Sypkém, František Kadlec and Na Stráž streets, where the detour from the Vosmíkovs is to take, will become an “oasis of calm” like in Egypt, where a giant ship is stranded.
Coalition representative Martin Jedlička (TOP 09), who is responsible for transport in the city district, told the Prague daily that the Libeň City Hall was solving a similar problem as early as 2019, when the metropolis management did not allow the construction project routes. At that time, it was thought that car traffic would be led through Na Sypkém, V Zahradách and Pod Čertovou skalou streets.
Prague 8 is afraid of transit columns
“We do not agree with the detour route through Na Sypkém, Františka Kadlece, Na Stráži streets at the closure of Vosmíkových street. The commission proposes to take a detour along Zenklova Street, “the traffic commission of the city district decided at Monday’s meeting.
“The problem is that Vosmíkových and Prosecká streets are close to each other and one is a detour for the other, so closing at once is a problem in terms of detours. Prosecká is to be completely closed, the Vosmíkovs are to have a detour in purely residential streets, where together with the locals we are afraid that a column of transit will run under their windows, “Jedlička added for Pražský deník.
However, according to the editorial staff, there may be a complication for the transport company, as part of the detour would lead along the tram tracks. In a discussion on social networks with the locals, the mayor’s deputy for transport, Adam Scheinherr, stated that the reconstruction of the sewerage system is not under the responsibility of: “It is purely up to the state administration to discuss the closure.”
The Municipality of Pirates, Prague to itself and the United Forces (TOP 09, STAN, KDU-ČSL) promised after individual excesses with traffic closures during the government of Mayor Adriana Krnáčová (ANO) and Transport Councilor Petr Dolínek (ČSSD) that the individual works will be better coordinate. However, some city districts (especially under the leadership of the ODS) complain that the situation has not improved. Let the Libeň “Suez Canal” be proof.
