Representatives of Prague 22 removed the mayor. He did not answer questions from the opposition – ČT24 – Czech Television
“I don’t really understand the reasons at the moment, no one really knows what’s going on. Apparently there’s something personal about it. I am sorry that two votes were delivered by members of the current coalition. Who, I don’t know. Which creates a lot of speculation as to why this happened, “said the revoked Zelenka.
Langmajer said the opposition had asked the mayor last week about investments in education. “I have made it clear that if they are not answered, I will propose an appeal. Everyone knew this in advance and there was nothing secret about it. We are not talking about seats on the board, but for children to have a place to go to school, because there is an acute lack of space and no one is solving it, “he said.
According to Langmajer, the current situation could lead to a change in the functioning of the town hall, which, for example, would reduce the number of paid councilors from seven to five. “Half of the coalition is in the council, it’s nowhere, but we don’t need a security and infrastructure councilor,” he said. The dismissal of the mayor allegedly does not mean an a priori attempt by the opposition to join the town hall leadership.
At that moment, Deputy Mayor Kateřina Erbsová (for Prague 22 Our City) took over the mayor’s competencies after Zelenka. Further events in the city district will now be discussed in the coalition. According to Zelenka, the coalition representatives should meet on Sunday.
The mayors with Svobodné received the most votes in Prague
The coalition parties agreed to cooperate after the elections in 2018, when they divided seven seats in the city council. The mayors with Svobodné, who won the elections in Uhříněves, won nine seats in the 25-member council and so far had four councilors. The second coalition partner occupied three councilors’ seats. Our city won five seats in the election.
The Pro Prahu movement, which won six seats, the ODS has three representatives and the last two seats YES has also succeeded in the elections.
Prague 22, with a population of over 11,000, is in the southeast of the capital. The city district includes Uhříněves, Hájek and Pitkovice and falls within the city district of Prague 10.
