Transport in 2021: The route between Prague and Brno will be “enchanted” for cars and trains
While drivers do not use the inconvenience of the D1 for the last year, passengers on the train, on the other hand, can prepare for the journey between the two largest domestic cities to be up to tens of minutes longer. The reason is simple: the railway administration will start repairing the corridor line near Ústí nad Orlicí in the spring, and the Pardubice junction will also be repaired. Only about one track will remain in operation, and it must be enough for the “Ostrava express trains”.
A large part of the express trains between Prague and Brno will now travel through the Vysočina region. Which exactly will be the exact ones will be clear only after the publication of the exclusion timetable. Repairs of the track as associated diversions will probably start in April and last two years, until June 2023. The journey by express train through the Vysočina region is on average 20 to 30 minutes longer than through the main corridor.
New highways: 46.5 kilometers
Perhaps the year 2021 should finally bring a more noticeable growth of the motorway network. In particular, the D11 should be extended by another 22 kilometers from Hradec Králové in the autumn, and drivers will almost reach Jaroměř. The second longest section of the new highway will also be in eastern Bohemia – it will be 12 km D35, in the section Hradec Králové – Časy (next year to Vysoké Mýto). Drivers on the “Karlovy Vary D6” should wait for the Lubenec bypass and on the Chomutov D7 they should finally ease the surroundings of Panenský Týnec. In Moravia, they will hopefully finally reach the D55 near Otrokovice.
Finally. Repair of D1 ends after years
It started in 2013 and will be finished this year. For 2021, the last five sections of the total of twenty remain to be completed on the D1 motorway. In the spring, the eight nearest parts of section 12 near Humpolec will be completed, where finishing work will take place in the middle dividing strip for about a month, without major restrictions for drivers. In fact, work will take place this year on four sections with a length of about 41 kilometers. The entire modernization will be completed in October 2021.
First year with electronic highway sign
Will work? The first drivers bought their electronic motorway stamp in December 2021, but the vast majority of motorists will start buying electronic motorway stamps only in January or during the year. Existing paper coupons are valid until the end of January. New electronic motorway stamps can be purchased at www.edalnice.cz. The registration number of the car (popularly “license plate”), the start date of the coupon and the second stamp (per year, 30 days, 10 days) are entered on it.
Prices remain the same. Annual stamp CZK 1,500, monthly CZK 440 and ten-day CZK 310. Those who do not want to shop online or cannot do so will buy a stamp at Czech Post branches or at EuroOil state petrol stations. The operator dictates the required data there (mainly license plates) and pays. Police and customs will focus on checking paid coupons from February. They have 60 special devices in the cars.
All drones under supervision and registered
The year 2021 is also marked by a new regulation of small flying drones. From 31 December 2020, new rules for the operation of drones will apply in the Czech Republic and throughout the EU. They will apply to newly sold and previously purchased machines. The rules also apply to aircraft models and cover all non-pilot aircraft. New drones are classified into three categories and it is necessary to register the operator on the website of the Civil Aviation Authority, where it receives all its drones. The regulation to some extent applies mainly to machines operated in our country, except for those that weigh less than 250 g and do not have a camera or toys for children under 14 years of age.
