Prague is preparing another tram line. It connects Kobylisy and Bohnice, the end at the cable car
After commissioning, it offered the inhabitants of Bohnice, for example, a direct tram connection to Palmovka, to the Prague 8 City District Office or further to Libno. The new line will be built by Dopravní podnik hl. the City of Prague (DPP), which will select a designer at the beginning of next year.
From the Kobylisy metro station at the intersection of Klapkova, Pod Sídlištěm and Střelničná streets, the line will run west along Pod Sídlištěm street, through Kobyliské náměstí, then Čimická and K Pazderkám streets, along the edge of Sídliště Bohnice to the southern end of Lodžská street. According to preliminary plans, it should have seven stops.
Completion is planned for the headland at the planned terminal stations of the Podbaba – Troja – Bohnice cable cars. The estimated costs for the construction of new tram lines Kobylisy – Bohnice are CZK 1.2 million, they will be specified after the elaboration of the project documentation for the zoning and construction procedure. For the construction of the new line, the transport company will strive to obtain subsidies from the European Structural and Investment Funds.
Connection to Zdib
“A modern city does not develop without a high-capacity, comfortable and ecological form of transport. Our goal is to bring tram transport to every important Prague district and continue to create a comprehensive system. The new tram line will allow us to streamline the management of bus lines within the Bohnice housing estate and improve the overall functionality of the public transport system in the area, “said Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the DPP Supervisory Board.
“In January, we will discuss the track at the next meeting of the Board of Directors and include it in the investment plan. We will select a designer by April and by the end of next year we would like to have a finished draft of project documentation for land and construction management. In the case of a smooth course of permitting procedures, we could monitor the start of construction at the earliest in 2025 and put it into operation in about six years, ie in about 2027, “said DPP head Petr Witowski.
Part of the project of the Kobylisy – Bohnice tram line will be solved at the junction at the Kobylisy metro station so that the new line is connected in all directions of the existing tram lines, ie in the direction to / from Libno, Ďáblice, Holešovice and the Kobylisy depot, resp. in the following years to continue the tram line to Zdib.
Simultaneously with the construction of the new Kobylisy – Bohnice tram line, the carrier, as an independent investment project, will in parallel reconstruct the tram line in Klapkova Street, south of the intersection with Střelničná Street.
