There is a parking lot from the new tram line. The “roar of the locals” also prevents the extension of the dormitories
At the end of November, a new section was created as part of the reconstruction of the track in Na Veselí and Soudní streets, including modifications in front of the Pankrác depot. But the original plan of the metropolis management has been slightly modified and the regular line (renewed 19) will run here only after the completion of the second stage of reconstruction in Táborská Street towards Nusle. “The stability of the system for citizens has won,” said Prague councilor Scheinherr.
The “orange” passed the line to the Pankrác metro station. Passengers will take the tram later
Now, on social networks, people comment on bizarre photos of the place where the dormitories and the stop sign are ready, but a sign highlighting the paid parking zone has grown next to it. On the official notice board of the city district hangs measures of a general nature, which stipulate the regulation of traffic in Na Pankráci Street. According to the town hall, the impossibility of parking would be “serious damage in the public interest”. The mentioned next phase of repairs to the existing tram line will also take the place of drivers.
Prague 4 through Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Kovářík (ODS), who is in charge of transport, does not consider the new section of about 700 meters to be “currently necessary”, because the construction of a new metro line D is postponed. C metro at the time of construction of metro D and subsequently as a connection from metro D to the area of Dolní Nusle, Vršovice and Vinohrady, ”Kovářík explained on the city website.
Prague 4: Bus line 193 is key
In mid-November, councilors also decided that they “fundamentally disagreed” that the operation of bus line 193, which according to Kovářík was “key for tens of thousands of inhabitants” in the territory of Prague 4, would be limited in connection with the new tram line.
The coalition ANO, ODS and TOP 09, including the People’s “defector” Josef Svoboda, replaced the ruling group of Pirates, Green and Independent Candidates, the Prague 4 movement and the Coalition for the Coalition for Prague 4 (KDU-ČSL, STAN) in this election period. She replaced Petr Štěpánek (Green Party) in April 2019 as Irena Michalcová from the YES 2011 movement.
The mayor of Prague 4 was replaced by Michalcová from YES. Štěpánek: Coalition of defectors
The management of the city district is now complaining that the municipality does not discuss important (mainly transport) issues with the town hall. Kovářík stated that communication and coordination by the coalition of Pirates, Prague itself and the United Forces (TOP 09, STAN, KDU-ČSL) was very bad in the case of the tram line in Pankrác and caused problems, and an agreement was finally reached. “The capital thinks that if it doesn’t tell us something, it will be faster,” Deputy Mayor Kovářík said.
In addition, the current councilor from Prague 4 works in contrast with Scheinherr et al. as enemies of public transport, who lobby mainly for car owners and other motorists. Another “proof” is supposed to be the dispute over the extension of the tracks from Pankrác to the intersection of Budějovická and Bystřická streets. This plan was approved by the city councilor in October.
The councilors “knocked out” the construction of new roads and the tram line
Kovářík told Deník N in September: “There is a relatively massive opposition of the locals to this vision, because the entire Green Fox area and the Michelská area have parking facilities that the city district on Budějovická Street has built for its own money. When these people heard that someone was thinking that their seats could be taken away, they began to complain about the city districts. It’s logical.”
AGAINST traffic podcast on the MHD86.cz website, whose editor-in-chief is the representative of the sixth district of Prague (ODS), Ondřej Matěj Hrubá seemingly instead of the fact that a cheap solution can be extremely expensive and that the town hall will build an underground garage to replace parking spaces that give way to tram tracks.
Locals are happy with the subway, says the deputy mayor
Kovářík said that the plans of the metropolis management to restore the line, which operated until 1974, were launched “in the neighboring SVJ”. According to the deputy mayor, many apartment owners have lived here for several decades. “And they don’t need a tram, they’re happy with the subway, one bus is enough for them, the witnesses were happy when she disappeared. It’s not that they cry that they want the track back. They remember the relief and calming down because the trams were louder, as well as the freeing up of space for cars. ”
Extending the construction of metro D by a year would not be dramatic, said the mayor of Libuše
Opponents argue, howeverthat the parking spaces from the central strip of Budějovická Street could be moved to a transverse parking space in both outer lanes. Or the existing parking would be maintained and the tram line would run – a little unusually – instead of the existing lanes on both edges of the road. Other supporters of the extension state that tram lines parallel to the metro line are also located elsewhere in the capital.
In addition, Prague 4 combines the controversial extension of the tram line from Pankrác to Budějovická with the construction of the so-called Southern Tram Tangent. Long-term plans envisage that the dormitories would connect Smíchov via Prague 4 with Vršovice, Žižkov and possibly Karlín. That is also why Kovářík welcomes the municipality at the Dvorecký Bridge stops – the distillery has already prepared the tracks for the tracks towards the Podolské bank. It should be done in 2024.
