Chabr said that the law allows the municipality to repair a collapsing monument on the part of the municipality at the expense of the owner if the owner does not respond to calls. According to him, a local investigation of conservationists is now waiting, who will then call on the owners again to arrange a remedy in the event of a mistake being found.
“If the situation does not improve, we will take all possible steps with the city district of Prague 2, which is locally and materially competent in matters, to save the station building from collapse, ie the implementation of basic static work by the city,” said Chabr. .
He added that the city tried to negotiate the purchase of monuments, but so far without success. According to him, the owner demands either too high a price or in exchange for building land, which, however, the municipality already has other intentions. According to earlier statements of the owners of millions for the building 117 crowns, however, the municipality could use only 67 on the basis of an expert opinion. RailCity Vyšehrad has not commented on the media for a long time, there are no contact persons on it. It is located in the station building.
Chabr: We need to act now
The Monument Act also allows for expropriation, but only under certain relatively strict conditions. The mayor’s deputy Petr Hlaváček (United Forces for Prague / for TOP 09) told ČTK that if no agreement was reached, the municipality would be ready in this way as well. First, however, according to the law, the state would have to try to buy the building, so the city would have to convince the property culture or the Office for Representation of the State in Matters.
“We will follow the law on monument care, where the first step is an attempt at redemption, and if the redemption fails, we will initiate expropriation proceedings,” said the deputy. Chabr added that this would be the first attempt at expropriation on the basis of the Monument Act at all. “I am worried that it will not extend into the horizon of years, which will logically worsen the condition of the building before a final decision is made. And given the condition of the building, it is necessary to act immediately, “he said.
In the case of acquiring the building into the ownership of Prague, the Slavonic epic of Alfons Mucha could be placed after the reconstruction. Prague 2 is also interested in this. The railway station is one of the seven places that the city is now considering for the location of the cycle.
The building was built between 1904 and 1905, the operation of the station was stopped around 1960. In private hands is the building, which was declared a cultural monument in 2000, since 2007. Restoration of the original function is not possible because modern standards do not allow to place the station in a bend. . The city is planning a train stop on Výtoň instead.
