Next station Depo Zličín. Prague will extend metro B and build a car park for 600 cars
The Prague Transport Company will extend metro line B by the Zličín Depot station. A new P + R car park for 600 cars will also be built at the station. Two new halls of the Zličín depot will be built and the track will be rebuilt. The costs are estimated at 1.4 billion crowns. Construction could begin in 2023 and end two years later. The company is now looking for a designer in the tender.
“Both buildings, the new metro station and P + R, will be created at the same time, one without the other would not make sense. Thanks to this, passengers will get to the center by subway from the outskirts of Prague within about 30 minutes and the comfort of public transport and, last but not least, we are reducing the environmental burden of individual transport, “said Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague himself).
The new station will be surface with two tracks and a side platform. It will be built below the slope on the northern side of the Zličín depot track, parallel to Sazovická Street. The vestibule will be oriented to the east. The entrance to the station will have an automatic sliding door. In the south, the platform will be open and passengers will be separated from the depot track only by a glass wall.
The northern part of the station will form a perimeter cladding with glass walls with blinds. Only the northern platform will be used for boarding and alighting. “Nevertheless, the station is designed in such a way that a second platform and a possible extension of lines B further west are also planned for the future,” said Aneta Řehková, a spokeswoman for the Prague transport company.
The P + R parking house will stand between the planned Zličín Depot station and Na Radosti Street, at the intersection with Míšovická. The distance between the exit from the metro and the nearest entrances to the P + R garages will be about 30 meters.
The depot is also needed for line D
The transport company also wants to expand the depot itself by two parking halls. The capacity is now full. “If we plan to shorten the intervals on line B in the future, we will have to move part of the sets from line A to the Zličín depot. The company also needs new premises because it has a test track in Zličín for testing new mobile phones for line D.
The company wants to obtain a building permit at the turn of the spring and summer of 2022. In the autumn of 2022, it will announce a tender for the construction contractor. The construction itself should then begin in the summer of 2023 and the station would be put into operation at the end of the summer holidays in 2025.
About 16 years ago, the company started the construction of the A Depo Hostivař metro station in a similar way. It was created as part of a depot from one of his former halls. It was put into operation in May 2006.
