Prague is changing the car park at the Ministry of Transport, part of which will be a traffic playground
The private company leased the car park at a higher price to state organizations than how much it rented from Prague 1.
Parking in front of the Ministry of Transport on the Ludvík Svoboda embankment is undergoing a major transformation after many years. Prague 1 terminated its lease to Saba parking, which also leased it to the Ministry of Transport or Czech Railways. In its place, there will be zones of paid state and, for example, traffic playgrounds.
According to the head of the External Relations Department of Prague 1, Petr Bidla, the main gas pipelines and related excavations, the renewal of collectors and other construction activities will take place on the site of the car park from September. “Part of the construction work will limit the usability of part of the land for several years,Bidlo added.
The part of the land adjacent to the building of the Ministry of Transport should be contractually provided to the Ministry to ensure the security perimeter, parking of the Ministry and other organizations in the building. The Besip traffic playground will also be built here.
In the next part, a purple paid parking zone will be established, ie a mixed zone for both residents and visitors to the city district. “The application in question has already been sent to the municipality in the spring of this year and it is awaiting the place to be included in the relevant decrees. In the corresponding number of places, the purple zone in Lannova Street will be changed to blue so as to ensure sufficient parking spaces for residents living in the vicinity,Bidlo added.
The contract with the company ended in April this year. “Since then, the company has been using land without a legal title. In addition, it must be stated that the tenant, in breach of the contract, leases the area of other entities at a higher price than the rent paid to the city district, “added Bidlo.
Currently, the parking lot is clearing the entrance and parking is a couple completely free.
