Festival Signal 2018
In 2018, we celebrated 100 years since the founding of the republic, and that was the main theme of the sixth annual Signal Festival. Czech artists created most of the installations, a total of 14, eight were from foreign authors.
The festival
The festival combines contemporary visual arts, city spaces and modern technology. Today, it is one of the most visited cultural events in the Czech Republic, which has 7 successful years. Czech and foreign artists take care of the program and hundreds of thousands of visitors take to the streets of Prague every year.
The history of the festival dates back to 2010, when video mapping for the 600th anniversary of the Old Town Astronomical Clock took place. Videomapping met with success and the idea arose to introduce more light art in the Czech Republic. The Signal Festival, as we know it today, first saw the light of day in 2013, its preparation took 3 years and was visited by about a quarter of a million people.
