With a partner and a business meeting. Where in Prague for the best brunch?
There is no better day than one that starts with great coffee and even better food. Sunday with a partner suddenly gets a holiday atmosphere and during weekdays brunch can save many boring business meetings.
Brunch is nothing new under the sun, but after a long time in quarantine and the beginning of the holidays, it calls for attention. And we would love to give it to him.
Here are some old brunch matadors where pancakes and avocado toasts will serve as aces up your sleeve, as well as a few relative newcomers you may not have gone through despite the pandemic.
Phase
After several months of reconstruction and years of preparation and dreams, Petr and Gabi, who have gone mad with food (and each other), opened the Etapa bistro in Karlín. And it was to start with a quick stop. A pandemic has arrived that has stopped baking and cooking for a while. But now they go on and serve Sunday brunches every day. They are full of colorful vegetables, selected coffees, homemade lemonades and, of course, home-baked home-made 100% wholemeal sourdough bread.
Bistro Zona
If you don’t mind brunch on a stand, go to the passage in Dlouhá. Resist the dessert at Cukráře Skály as you walk around Our Meat, lower your eyes to the sidewalk and make it to the passage where you will find the new Zona bistro. There they will spread the longest and most crunchy baguette spread, which you will dream of in the evening.
Kitchen Kro bistro and grill
If you are in the mood to have a brunch in the form of a picnic, go to Kro Kitchen in Vinohradská. There they will pack all the goodies with you and you can eat them in the nearby Riegrovy sady or Grébovce. It’s not a bad start to the weekend.
Bock
We have already written you a whole love letter about this legendary brunch spot. Bistro Bockem is the only place where breakfast is served in the tasting menu. The menu is, of course, compiled according to the award-winning and important concept of recent years – it is seasonal and large and prepared from local ingredients. At the same time, it keeps the price level acceptable, you will pay a total of 320 crowns for the starter, main course, dessert and drink.
Warm Duck
If you sometimes want an Asian brunch, head to the new establishment near the Trade Fair Palace in Prague 7. The squeezed concept full of Asian specialties will put you in a great mood all day long and kick your green tea lemonade. We recommend trying steamed dumplings if you happen to be moving closer in time to lunch, Peking duck with vegetables, hoisin sauce and rice cakes is a must try.
Farm
Quite a legendary breakfast and lunch place in Letná. About as old as the brunch itself. Who has not been, should correct. Their seasonal fruit pancakes will lift your spirits and you won’t make a mistake even with a salty course. Yeah, and they like dogs, so if you have them, take him with you and then take him for a walk to Letna Park or Stromovka.
Letka Cafe
Another spot on Letná that you should not miss during your brunch marathon. In a few years of their existence, they have captured the menu in detail, so you can literally drive all day in the bistro and end the evening with a mixed super drink.
SWEET-PEPPER DAYS
We have written many times about the family bistro founded in 2013. They are just good! But if you have to taste something, it’s their Benedict eggs with black garlic or classic bread with avocado, tanned so that you can pull out the iPhone anyway, and you will eventually set up Instagram for the photo.
Bistro 8
Another bistro classic, this time you can choose between Letná and Žižkov. There they will serve you the whole brunch on a metal tray – main course, salad, dessert and coffee. With a tray, you can sit in the grass of a nearby park and have such a small picnic.
Cafefin
When Asia meets Europe and say that being a hipster is really cool, a place like Cafefin is created. You will be screened for a long time with this colorful menu and we can guarantee that you will love whatever you choose, from the first bite.
Cobra
Or a place where you can spend not only the whole day, but also the night. And then, with a light hunger, have a nice egg Benedict, an omelette with bacon or the famous American pancakes accompanied by seasonal fruit.
Cafe Jen
Another summer weekend brunch on the grass in the park! At Cafe Jen, they will pack a few cunning breads, cakes, buns and add excellent coffee or freshly squeezed orange juice. What more could you want for a morning picnic.
Pantry 1902
You can be sure that in the bistro, where the entire section of the menu is dedicated to toast and pancakes, you will always choose. And you taste it too. In the Pantry, they will also serve you a scrambled eggs with a homemade croissant, just pulled out of the oven. And let’s talk, a crunchy butter roll is sometimes the best thing there is.
Mlýnec
The Prague company with a great view belonging to the Sanjiv Suri empire is still a bit undiscovered by the locals. However, this does not apply to phenomenal weekend brunches, which are usually sold out a few days in advance. Make a reservation, because the combination of well-prepared seafood, Czech cuisine in a modern way and unlimited prosecco (or a rich wine list) will make an ordinary weekend an experience.
Oh Deer Bakery
Such a fighter in the end. At least in terms of calories. Not only have they been reprimanding us at Oh Deer Bakery for a year now with their great, all sorts of cream-filled crobli. Now they decided to put even more pressure on the saw and improved this croissant with a donut in one with Benedict’s egg. Sin? Yes. Is it worth it? definitely.
