Parking in Prague: Color zones

Basic information about colored parking zones
The vehicle is a great tool that allows you to commute from a greater distance. But in addition to the mandatory technical inspections, compulsory liability agreement and constantly refueling, you also need to think about affordable parking. If you work in Prague, we bring you basic information about parking, thanks to which you will find the right place to leave your car during work, and you will avoid possible fines.
It exists in Prague several types of parking zones. They are divided by color:
- Blue zone it is especially for residents who can park in it for free on the basis of a parking permit. Others must pay a fee for a maximum of 3 hours of parking.
- Orange zone is reserved for visitors who can park for 3 hours.
- Purple zone it is then mixed – for residents and visitors. Non-residents without a parking permit are allowed to park here for a maximum of 24 hours.
Authorized parking is checked using a monitoring system. He scans the registration number of the car and finds information about the parking authorization according to it. The fine for incorrect parking can reach up to CZK 2,000therefore, we strongly recommend parking correctly.
Price of parking permit
If you would like to arrange parking permission in the blue or purple zone, you must be a permanent resident, own property or do business in the city district (subscribers). I will pay for the annual parking in the permitted zones residents CZK 1,200, residents over 65 years CZK 360 and subscribers CZK 7,000. The resident pays CZK 7,000 for the second car. Parking permit prices are the same for all city districts.
How to pay for short-term parking?
You only pay for parking in the blue zones with help virtual parking meter. You can find them on the mpla.cz website, where you enter basic information and pay the parking fee online. In other zones you will find i classic parking machines, however, they will no longer give you a ticket. Everything is checked by a monitoring car via a license plate. The price of the parking fee depends on the type of zone and the location. In the blue zone, a standing hour costs 40 CZK, 60 CZK or 80 CZK. In other zones, prices may be lower, in some places you will find an hour of parking for CZK 20.
Proper parking in the zones
The color zones determine who should use the most. In the blue zones, the car should be left behind, the orange ones are a short-term visitor for a longer period of time, and the purple zones can be used by both residents and visitors. Avoid problems with the police and park properly.
