At least for a while. Prague 8 wants a Sunday without mowers, jackhammers and excavators
Politicians from the eighth district are preparing a decree banning noisy work on Sundays and public holidays. In addition to buildings, it could also apply to mowing the garden. And they will try to push for the ban to apply to the whole of Prague.

The metropolis lacks a standard that would ban noisy work on certain days. At least two politicians from the eighth district, Deputy Mayor Jiří Vítek, and the chairman of the Commission for Territorial Development, Radomír Nepil, are convinced of this. They therefore want to submit their own decree to the city for approval.
Living in the center is no win. The inhabitants of Prague 1 want to sue the municipality
The standard of the town of Děčín serves as their inspiration. It stipulates that noisy tools, such as saws, mowers, demolition hammers and drills, may not be used in the city on Sundays and public holidays from 6 to 10 and from 12 to 22 hours. It is not yet clear whether they will use the same time frame for the metropolis.
Prague is still talking about the city
In the same way, they still have to decide what kind of noise their regulation will regulate. Whether it will relate exclusively to activities on construction sites, or even mowing the garden.
“Děčín’s decree is an inspiration. First, it must be fine-tuned for the environment of the capital, “Deputy Mayor Vítek told Deník. They will be the first to receive a proposal from the commission for the environment and the area of development in Prague 8, then it will be discussed by the council and only then will it be submitted to the municipality. It is the representatives of Prague who have the power to adopt city ordinances.
Large housing projects are stalled, smaller ones are starting to prosper
Vítek and Nepil are not yet looking for support for their proposal. “Currently, this is an internal work of Prague 8 and there will be time for negotiations in the clubs of the capital when a possible decree is discussed in the above-mentioned commissions,” Vítek added.
Ten times more complaints
According to both policies, the standard is needed because current laws do not restrict noisy construction work in any way. These can be performed essentially daily from 6 to 22 hours.
Exceptions occur only if the restriction is proposed to the project by the builder himself when applying for a building permit, or if the restriction is required by one of the participants in the construction procedure and the office complies with it.
Breakthrough in negotiations. The state will build a hospital in Letňany, he promised Babiš
The fact that noise from buildings is bothering Praguers more and more is also evidenced by figures from the statistics of the State Office of Labor Inspection. While in 2007 the inhabitants of the metropolis filed only ten complaints about this problem, in 2015 it was already eighty and in 2017 even a hundred.
