Toilets for millions. Prague 6 wants to get closer to Western Europe
The building in the area at Anastázova Street stands out relatively well. It is a concrete cube and because it is not mobile, the toilet is barrier-free, its interior is made of stainless steel, so it is also easier to wash and maintain.
“The module is delivered as a complete construction, which settles on the built-in base plate, and this is how the company will completely supply the entire module,” said Prague spokesman Ondřej Šrámek.
The price of the module itself is 1.8 million crowns. Other expenses are related to the introduction of water and electrical connections and landscaping. Šrámek states that such a toilet is simply a construction and it is not easy or cheap to obtain the construction of all permits to modify the infrastructure. Of course, work also costs something. That’s why the toilet cost an incredible 3.5 million crowns. So far, it is free for the public. From the New Year, its use will cost ten crowns.
Because the race is not mobile, it is also barrier-free.

Bigger and more expensive
Another multifunctional race was built at Baba near the skate park. It is a larger three-door model, where there is a separate toilet for men and women and a maintenance room. The module itself cost 2.5 million, with the necessary modifications around the construction cost about 4.8 million.
although it is also stainless, so it is easy to wash, its current condition is not entirely satisfactory. According to the findings of the newspaper, it smells and is generally dirty.
As in the “West”
Šrámek claims that overpriced toilets are not a whim. It is mainly an attempt to get closer to Western Europe.
“Everyone who comes from Germany, for example, then comes and says what kind of sanitary facilities they have there, how they have it, and on the motorways, what their clean foundations are. ‘Unfortunately, it costs some money to get closer to European standards. It is not that Prague 6 does not know what to do with money, but it is that we want to gradually increase the comfort and standards not only of social facilities, “Ondřej Šrámek explained the intentions of Prague 6.
Prague 6 wants to approach the standards of its western neighbors.

More toilets
The previous district government, which is now in opposition, is behind the approval of the construction of these toilets. The reason why construction has only begun now is that paperwork and approval around takes two years.
There are also plans to build more public toilets in Prague 6, which are still under negotiation.
