The mayor of Prague 5 is Renáta Zajíčková. Mazura was recalled for incompetence
The new mayor said that she had been building a private high school for 15 years and considered the new position another request to contribute to a better life in Prague 5. The current mayor wished his successor a lot of success and patience in solving complicated problems posed by the post, and then earlier mayoral chain.
Representative Vít Šolle (KDU-ČSL) asked Zajíčková in the discussion whether she lives in Prague 5. The fact that the current mayor of Mazur lives in Zličín was one of the reasons given today for his dismissal. In response, the new mayor stated that although her family owns a house in Prague 13, where she sometimes resides, she has a permanent residence in Prague 5 and feels like a resident.
We need political agreement
The mayor stated in a press release that she wants to focus on the construction of homes for the elderly, a new school within the development of Smíchov City, the revitalization of Motol ponds or the construction of a ceremonial network. She added that the town hall management must be active in the field of transport. “That’s why we need a broad political consensus on key projects,” she said.
The Mayor of Prague 5, Daniel Mazur (Pirates), was removed shortly before noon today. The coalition, which consisted of Pirates, YES 2011, ODS and SNOP 5, disintegrated. There were 32 deputies for Daniel Mazura’s dismissal, eight against and three abstentions.
The mayor’s dismissal was preceded only by a three-hour discussion between deputies, who accused Daniel Mazur of not being able to run the town hall. Therefore, the ODS, ANO 2011 and the Association of Independent Citizens of Prague 5 (SNOP 5) terminated the coalition agreement. Orphaned Pirates, on the other hand, claim that the break-up of the coalition is related to the fact that the mayor began to address the background of public procurement of the announced unions of the fifth city district.
“We have touched on the issue of public procurement, both systemic and specific errors,” Mazur said of the reason he considered the real motive for his appeal. According to him, the pirates in the town hall’s management tried to find out the problems in awarding contracts and setting up procedures so that the problems would not recur.
The new coalition now consists of ODS, ANO, TOP 09, STAN and SNOP 5, in the 43-member council it will have a comfortable majority of 35 votes.
Overpriced playground?
Mazur added that he had commissioned the audit of the contract for the Kudrn playground in the Department of Public Space and Greenery Management under the responsibility of Councilor Martin Slabý (YES). The city district paid six million crowns for the playground, according to the prepared audit and the subsequent revision audit, the adequate price is half. According to the Pirates, this is not the only case.
Representatives of their current coalition partners said that the real reason was the fact that the Pirates were not active in the management of the city, did not provide information and committed mistakes, due to which the city districts were threatened with sanctions. The proposal to dismiss the mayor was submitted by the chairman of the SNOP 05 club, Jiří Vejmelka. Pirates and SNOP 5 ran together in last year’s election, but then quarreled and split into two clubs.
Weak in response questioned the quality of the first audit and, according to him, the audit did not evaluate the content of the original report. According to him, the mayor in the coalition refused to negotiate a local referendum on the construction of a new lock chamber. According to former coalition partners and the current opposition, the mayor’s office also committed a number of mistakes, due to which the city districts were threatened with sanctions. For example, due to the cancellation of the contract for the reconstruction of the historic Raudnitz House, the town hall narrowly avoided a fine of 20 to 50 million crowns, according to the chairman of the ANO club, Jan Trojánek.
Strategic development did not take place
It was also discussed that Mazur has a permanent residence in Prague 5, but actually lives in Zličín. The chairman of SNOP 5 Vejmelka stated that in the whole ten months the mayor did not take a single concrete step regarding the strategic development of the city district, even though he was in charge of it.
Today, the current councilors Lukáš Herold (ODS) and Tomáš Homola (STAN) were elected deputy mayors. The deputy mayor will be Naděžda Priečinská (TOP 09) and the position will be retained by the current deputy mayor Martin Slabý (YES). The new released councilor is Viktor Čahoj (TOP 09) and the unreleased David Dušek (STAN). The current members of the board, Zdeněk Doležal (ODS) and Petr Lachnit (YES), remained in office.
There are 15 released representatives in the new coalition, ie those who will receive a salary. He is a mayor, four deputy mayors, three of the four councilors and seven committee chairs. So far, 13 deputies have been released.
Last year’s elections in Prague 5 were won by Pirates and SNOP 5 with 11 seats (five for Pirates, six for SNOP 5), the ODS finished second with nine seats, the third TOP 09 with seven seats and the fourth YES, which won seven representatives. STAN also got to the council, which won six seats, KDU-ČSL and the independent family held three seats. The council has 43 members.
The fifth city district has about 85,000 inhabitants and includes Hlubočepy, Košíře, Motol, Radlice, Smíchov and parts of Jinonice, Malá Strana and Břevnov.
