The Slavic epic may return to Moravský Krumlov. Prague does not yet have a place to exhibit it – ČT24 – Czech Television
The gallery owners took canvases with the history of the Slavs from Moravský Krumlov in February 2011. Since then, the rooms have been empty with the excuse of one with furniture and a depository with the modern art of the Mládek couple. The Krumlov Castle now had the hope that Mucha’s work could return there for at least a few years.
Kastelán Jiří Všetula already knows exactly which spaces the canvas suited. Twelve or thirteen paintings could be in the Knight’s Hall, where they would spread out. Others could be in the chapel, he outlined.
It should be clear in February and the last word will have Prague. “It must be said that this would really only be a temporary location in Krumlov and it should be noted that there are no suitable conditions yet. There would have to be adjustments there, “said the mayor of Prague, adding that the capital is considering more options for the temporary placement of the epic. He can also solve where Mucha’s work lasted. The construction of a lapidary at the Exhibition Grounds also remains in play, but Mayor Hřib did not want to say more.
The epic requires a temperature of twenty degrees Celsius and fifty-five percent humidity. “We have the premises ready, but due to the fact that it is a castle and the investment in the preparation of air conditioning units is not small, we have so far only prepared explanations of the mayor of Moravský Krumlov Tomáš Třetina (TOP 09).
Without the epic, the whole of Krumlov is suffering. Once the castle visited up to thirty thousand visitors a year, now only a few thousand get lost here. But Kastelán Všetula believes that they will gradually find their way here again. Whatever the outcome of the epic, the castle will finally be reconstructed after years. The builders should start repairing the south wing together with the tower in the spring.
