Prague is the 23rd best place to live in the world, according to studies. However, ‘sister’ Vienna has a distinctive character Home
“Prague is evaluated in the current Arcadis Sustainable Cities Index as a so-called balanced innovator. It ranked very high worldwide in terms of the quality of life of the population and the level of the business environment. The index appreciates, for example, the availability and quality of health care, safety, tourism development, a number of business opportunities and a wide range of jobs, “said Lenka Matějíčková from the Czech branch of Arcadis.
In the case of sustainable development, according to her, the study evaluates water management and greenery in the city well. On the contrary, there is room for improvement in transport, geographical and virtual interconnection of the city and in improving waste management.
“Prague’s leading position in Central European comparison ensures the amount of greenery, the availability and quality of health care and the balance of work and personal life. Prague is very attractive for visitors and supports tourism to the maximum. The index points to the need to reduce CO2 emissions, support alternative modes of transport, such as electric cars and bicycle transport, and improve wastewater treatment, “added Matějíčková.
According to the study, when solving the traffic situation, it is necessary to build intercepting car parks that would connect to the public transport system. Restrictive measures being introduced by many European capitals today include restrictions on entry into the city center for cars that do not meet certain emission limits, ”the study said. According to her, the completion of the internal and external transport ring and the development of the Prague public transport network, such as the D metro line, is also crucial.
