The Prague ODS will be led by exponent Svoboda in the municipal elections
Gynecologist and obstetrician Svoboda (74) was the mayor of Prague from November 2010 to May 2013. Since October 2013, he has been a member of parliament and serves, among other things, on the health committee. In January of this year, the House of Representatives refused to extradite him for criminal prosecution in the opencard case. The police accused Svoboda, along with other Prague councillors, of breach of duty in violation of foreign property and regulations on the rules of economic competition due to one application related to the opencard.
“I am personally convinced that Prague needs a proper man at its head today, and we have him here,” Udženija commented on Svoboda’s election to journalists. Svoboda identified transport as the biggest current problem in Prague. “Prague is a big city, if it doesn’t become a passable city and able to absorb people, they work in it,” he said when asked by journalists. He also assured that the ODS will not cooperate with the communists.
Udženija works as a deputy mayor in Prague 2. She is in charge of social affairs and healthcare. She has been the first vice-president of the party since 2016. She was also a Prague councilor for property and business support. “We are not afraid of anyone, we are a self-confident right-wing party,” she answered when asked who she considers to be the biggest competitor.
In fourth place is the former deputy of the Ministry of the Interior and Finance, Zdeněk Zajíček, and the former first vice-chairman of the party, David Vodrážka, is also on the candidate list. The Parliament also approved cooperation with the Realists and the Liberals. The Liberals will have five representatives on the candidate list and the Realists two.
For the Social Democrats, the only candidate for the leader of the Prague candidate is the Deputy Minister of Defense Jakub Landovský. Zdeněk Hřib will be the leader of the Pirates. The leader of the ANO movement will be deputy Patrik Nacher, the current mayor Adriana Krnáčová will not defend her contribution. The leaders of the joint TOP 09 and STAN candidates will be TOP 09 chairman Jiří Pospíšil and lawyer Hana Marvanová.
