Parts of the ring road, the road to Þingvalla National Park will be closed until noon at least

Due to the dangerous driving conditions caused by the storm that is sweeping Iceland, the Road Administration has closed several parts of the Ring Road and other roads that run over heaths or mountain passes. IRCA expects the roads to be closed until noon. Orange and yellow weather warnings are in force in the North until 13:00 (13:00).

IRCA closed part of the ring road yesterday evening. The closures were extended as the weather worsened and motorists experienced problems. More than a hundred vehicles were stranded on the ring road between the capital area and Southland. More than 90 members of ICE-SAR companies in the South West assisted drivers.
The bus has canceled all routes from the capital area this morning. The public transport schedule is expected to return to normal in the afternoon.
