Will taxi drivers paralyze transportation to Ruzyne Airport? Their protest is about to begin
Today, the Association of Czech Taxi Drivers wants to block the arrival at Václav Havel Airport in Ruzyně with a slow protest ride from 10:00. Taxi drivers set out to protest against Uber-type services. Brno taxi drivers will also give their support, who will go to Brno Airport in the afternoon. Police officers, police officers, the municipality and the transport company (DPP) are preparing for possible traffic complications in Prague, but they do not want to communicate specific steps. The airport has already urged passengers to anticipate a possible delay in arriving in Ruzyně.
It is not clear how many taxi drivers will come to Prague Airport. It is not possible to read part of the association’s Facebook profile either. This announced that the taxi drivers would take Leipzig Street towards the airport, back past the Mariott Hotel and again in front of Evropská třída back to Leipzig Street.
Brno taxi drivers are going to support their Prague colleagues between 12:00 and 14:00. They want to take a slow but delayed ride from the parking lot at the Riviera swimming pool at the airport in Tuřany via Poříčí, Opuštěná, Ostravská and Řípská and back along the same route. The chairman of the Taxi Czech Republic, Radek Kolář, does not dare to estimate how many taxi drivers will travel in Brno. It can be a few dozen, but even a stove of cars.
According to the Road Transport Act, it must not restrict the flow of traffic by unreasonably slow driving. For this he can get a fine of up to 2000 crowns on the spot and in administrative proceedings it can then be 2500 crowns. The driver does not get the body. The evaluation of an offense always depends on the police officer. The police, police and the municipality do not want to reveal how they will solve any problems. “We will not anticipate the procedures and we do not want to argue about them, because the situation may develop completely differently than expected,” said Prague police spokesman Tomáš Hulan.
Taxi drivers have recently protested against the shared economy’s transportation services in front of the airport. They are particularly bothered by the fact that drivers without a taxi license drive for Uber and similar services, do not have cars registered as taxi vehicles and do not have taximetry. Uber claims that it is not a taxi service, but that it offers carpooling within a shared economy.
The dispute between the taxi drivers and Uber will also be dealt with by the Office of the Government on Thursday, an expert group led by the Government Plenipotentiary for the Digital Agenda, Ondřej Malý. The participants of the meeting are to prepare a proposal for a possible settlement of disputes and agree on the involvement of the ministers concerned. Petr Dolínek, the deputy mayor of Prague and the Prague leader of the CSSD for the parliamentary elections, stated on social networks that he intends to propose the replacement of taximeters with smart applications.
Uber drivers will have to comply with the conditions as taxi drivers. The meeting will be attended by representatives of the ministries, the capital and Brno.
