Prague will receive a giant electricity substation for three billion. The road will give way to her Business
A comparable building stands, for example, in Chodov, Prague, where electricity flows from the Temelín nuclear power plant in South Bohemia. The planned substation – which should be located in Čimice in Prague – will strengthen the connection from the north of the country.
“The 420 kV substation in Prague North will improve the reliability of the capital’s power supply. The current needs of customers and the forecast for the coming years show that the energy intensity of the Prague agglomeration is increasing. The expected date of connection of the new facility is in 2025, “confirmed Barbora Peterová, spokeswoman for the state administrator of the ČEPS transmission system, to the Lidovky.cz server.
It is this joint-stock company that will build and pay the substation. According to her estimates, the project should cost up to three billion crowns. The time until the announced final year 2025 will be taken by work on project documentation or applications for relevant permits.
The “wire managers” count on the construction of large distribution lines between 2023 and 2025. But before that, they have to solve the problem with the sought-after locality.
“Part of the land on which the substation is to be owned is owned by Pražská energetika. The road, which is used by the public and public transport, leads through the next part. That is why we are working with the City Hall to ensure its transfer and adequate compensation, “said ČEPS spokeswoman Peterová.
Neither her company nor the Prague City Council wants to be too specific at this stage of preparation, regarding land and the road to be translated. However, information from the Lidovky.cz server shows that this is a relocation of K Ládví Street in Prague 8, which connects the busy Čimická and Ústecká streets, and is therefore a link between the Kobylisy and Bohnice districts, among others.

There is also a bus line number 183 on the street, which commutes between the Háje and Sídliště Čimice metro stations.
The construction of the substation – which mediates the flow of electricity and its distribution – will probably cause the existing K Ládví line to join the still dead Dopraváků Street, which will lead cars or public transport to the busy Ústecká heading to Kobylis on one side and Dolní Chaber on the other.

The substation of Pražská energetika (PRE) already stands in the place today. It is a company partly owned by the capital and a minority by the German company enBW. The existing and new production facilities should be connected. PREdistribution submitted an application for connection to the transmission system in December 2012 in order to ensure the supply of Prague and its immediate surroundings even with increasing electricity consumption.
“The plots are really ours. In the zoning plan, they are listed as energy territories and ČEPS is negotiating their purchase with us in order to use them for the construction of a substation, which will strengthen the connection of Prague from the northern directions from the Čechy Střed distribution system, “said PRE spokesman Petr Holubec.
He also confirmed the request to connect to this planned substation. “During its implementation, the existing connection to the Mělník power plants to our existing substation would have to be canceled. And we would be left without electricity in this area, “added Holubec.
At the same time, on the basis of the Energy Act, ČEPS must ensure non-discriminatory conditions for all participants in the electricity market for the connection of their equipment to the transmission system.
The construction of an important substation is now in the pre-project preparation phase and all parties involved are reluctant to make statements.
“There is nothing definitive at the moment, so we currently have nothing to comment on. Unfortunately, land acquisition and road solutions are always a sensitive matter and we ask for your understanding that we will not publish information about the negotiations in the media. We could damage both the actions and the solutions and interests of Prague. Prague is doing its utmost to release the land as quickly as possible, “said Vít Hofman, a spokesman for the municipality.
