The Blue Zones will not be in Prague 12, visitors have been rejected by Prague 6 and 9
At the same time, according to the document, Prague 10 refused to allow the zones to be introduced in Prague 4. Prague originally planned to expand the zones from April 1, eventually stopping the project and postponing it indefinitely. The zones in Prague 1, 2, 3, 7 and 16 are currently operating.
The introduction of parking zones was completely abandoned by the City Hall of Prague 12. According to the original documentation, the zone was originally to be established in the vicinity of the Modřany Polyclinic. The city district justified its step not to establish a zone by trying to solve the parking problem in another way. A new car park will be created and the zone will not be needed.
Two or six hours
As part of the so-called comment procedure, Prague 6 and 9 called for the planned visitor zones to be abolished and become mixed zones in which visitors and residents can park. Drivers can only park in them for a limited time, either a maximum of two or six hours, depending on the area.
The Prague 6 municipality complied without any problems, as there were very few visitor areas to be established. The requirement of Prague 9 according to the material eligible for the introduction of the zone in this part of the city to be postponed. “Prague 9 will then be included in some of the following stages according to its state of readiness,” the material says.
Dozens protested against the zones at four
There was even a case in the proceedings where one of the city districts objected to the creation of a zone near its neighbor. Specifically, Prague 10 disagreed with the establishment of the zone in Prague 4. However, the decision is up to the municipality, which will assess the request – this has not happened yet, because the municipality postponed the introduction of the zone indefinitely.
City Hall, like some other town halls in the past, fears that drivers from the neighboring part have moved to its territory.
The zones were to be gradually introduced in Prague 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 as of April 1. However, Prague eventually withdrew from the plan. The first parking zones in the metropolis appeared in 1996 in Prague 1 on the right bank. At present, in addition to Prague 1, they also operate in Prague 2, 3, 7 and 16. In these parts of the city, the original parking will still apply, unification with the newly established zones will be produced in about two years.
