Prague has the first tram with air conditioning and wi-fi. A total of 125 will be adjusted
The Prague Transport Company (DPP) took over the first modified 15T tram from Škoda Transportation, which has newly installed air conditioning and wi-fi. The carrier is now preparing for a test drive. DPP decided to change at the beginning of this year and a total of 125 trams should be modified in this way.
“I can confirm that the first facelifted 15T tram arrived in Prague yesterday,” said DPP spokesman Jiří Štábl. The carrier is now preparing for passenger-free test drives, which should start in the coming days.
The tram is still wrapped in white foil and it wants to take shape at an official event in about two weeks. DPP has previously stated that the color will be significantly modified, when the upper belt of the car is white, the existing dark design and white color will be used under the windows instead of gray. The middle part of the front of the car will be yellow-orange and the whole front has a new design – the number of plastic parts is reduced to speed up repairs.
Inside, the car is newly equipped with air conditioning and wi-fi equipment. The wooden seats are then replaced with plastic ones. The spokesman did not state which lines the DPP tram would use, but according to ČTK information, they could run on some of the backbone tram lines.
