The Prague municipality interrupted the meeting, the mayoress will be elected later
Representatives of the capital interrupted today’s meeting, at which they were supposed to elect a new mayor and city management. The reason is the concurrence of the municipal meeting with the constitutive meeting of representatives in Prague 4 and 8. The candidate for mayor is ANO number one in Prague, Adriana Krnáčová. The coalition was formed by ANO, ČSSD and the Three Coalition (Green Party, KDU-ČSL and STAN). The current mayor Tomáš Hudeček (previously TOP 09) has officially left office.
In the morning, the representatives only took the promise of representatives, after which the meeting was interrupted at the suggestion of the leader of the Trojkoalice Petr Štěpánek (SZ). The municipal coalition has only a narrow majority of one vote, so it needs to have all representatives present at the meeting. The problem of the concurrence of councils concerns, for example, Štěpánek (SZ), who is to be elected mayor of Prague 4, where the meeting will begin at 10:00. Prague representatives will meet again at 6 p.m.
The chairman of the representative club TOP 09 and outgoing deputy mayor Václav Novotný opposed the interruption. He called the interruption undignified. He wanted to act again from 1:00 p.m., but the representatives did not accept his proposal. Novotný was joined by ODS representative Alexandra Udženija. Even her proposal to adjourn the meeting until 1:30 p.m. was not accepted.
The parties have divided competences
The candidate for mayor is Krnáčová, who is supposed to be in charge of the fight against corruption, public administration and legislation. Other representatives of ANO will deal with finance, property and property shares of companies, security, healthcare and housing. Transport, social policy and issues of European funds and education fell to the ČSSD. The tripartite coalition, in turn, is to manage the environment, culture and heritage care and infrastructure.
In addition to the mayor, ANO should have four more representatives in the eleven-member line, ČSSD and Trojkoalice three each. Krnáčová should have three squares, Eva Kislingerová from ANO, Matěj Stropnický for the Trojkoalica and Petr Dolínek from the ČSSD. The positions of chairmen of municipal committees are already divided. The only one is the control committee, whose chairman will be from the opposition.
ANO won the municipal elections in Prague with 17 seats, followed by TOP 09 with 16 seats. After eight mandates, the Trojkoalice, ODS and ČSSD have. Like the KSČM, the Pirates won four seats.
