The plain in front of the Hvězda nature reserve in Prague 6 will come alive this weekend with the reconstruction of the battle on Bílá Hora. On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can expect period markets, examples of military training, lectures and musical performances.
“The battle on Bílá hora, which fundamentally generates the rudder of Czech history, took place in the territory of today’s Prague 6. For years, this unique connection required the support of the battle tumult, which became one of the turning points in the Czech national myth. As always, it was more complicated and less clear-cut. therefore please arouse interest in this historical period” explained the Prague 6 deputy mayor for culture in a press release Jan Lacina (TENT).
The program of the event, which ranks among the largest in Europe, begins on both days at noon with a cannon fire that opens the marketplace. People can then look forward to demonstrations of firearms, demonstrations of training or musical performances on historical instruments.
On Saturday from three o’clock, actor Roman Štabrňák will lead the audience through the battle, on Sunday he will be replaced by Václav Vydra. Specially composed dramatic music will be played to accompany the performance of hundreds of artillerymen, footmen and horsemen.
Admission for adults is two crowns, children pay half.
