Riccione asks for the “Bathing Town Status”
Riccione wants to become Seaside city. The mayor Daniel Angelini participated in Rome at the meeting of “G20 beach”the initiative involves 26 Municipalities of the major seaside resorts of Italy. The Minister of Tourism was present Daniela Santanche which, reads a note from the municipal administration, has proved to be proactive with respect to the needs of administrators and operators.
“We are ready to work together for the future of tourist municipalities: we mayors of seaside resorts, together, can represent to the Government what are our specific needs and the services we need. Ours are not cities like the others: during the periods of maximum turnout we see increase the population tenfold compared to the number of residents. We need tailor-made legislation that takes all of this into account, from safety to waste collection,” says the mayor.
The municipalities present at the meeting essentially ask to be able to count on one framework law which allows the Municipalities facing the sea to face i administrative deficit related to the increase in population during the summer. A law establishing it “Seaside City Status”: a set of rules that the State will summarize – this is the commitment – in a legislative design and which will modify the administrative behavior of the municipalities of the Italian bathroom.
“We mayors – says Daniela Angelini – have made a commitment to have a work table able to put pen to paper the peculiarities of those who, like us mayors of the so-called seaside towns, are forced to manage the trend of a population according to an accordion”.
