PKP. Lublin-Warsaw trains will speed up. The journey will be shorter

Sugar Mizzy February 2, 2023

If someone wants to go to PKP Intercity companies from Lublin to Warsaw on Thursday, he or she can board, for example, a train leaving at 10.05 and in the capital at 10.05. 12.15. The scheduled journey takes 2 hours and 10 minutes. It takes 5 minutes longer to travel by train leaving at 12.05.

It’s long because you need your that PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, starting the renovation of the Lublin-Warsaw line, promised that it would be possible to reach the capital in 90 minutes. A major renovation began in 2017.

Many ministers from Lublin were asked about this number. Such interpellations are written every few months and almost every time the question arises: when will the railway speed up? When will the promised 90-minute ride last?

– (…) the announced reduction of the travel time on the Warsaw-Lublin route to about 90 minutes will be possible after taking into account all investment works on the railway line No. 7 Warsaw-Lublin (…) – this is how Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Bittel answers these questions in 2022 .

This means that the work is still in progress.

But there’s also good news. He drew the attention of Mr Przemyslaw. It hints that the train timetable after March 12 is already available on the PKP railway service. – Installation on increasing the speed to 160 km/h on the route Lublin Główny – Warszawa Wschodnia. The fastest trains from Lublin to Warszawa Wschodnia will take 103 minutes and from Warszawa Wschodnia to Lublin only 98 minutes – suddenly Czytelnik and: – A lot of trains run through Warsaw Gdańsk due to the renovation of Warsaw.

And in fact, this information is present on the Passenger Portal. If, after March 12, someone takes a train leaving Lublin for Warsaw at 10.23 am, the journey will last 1 hour and 58 minutes. The train with 12.23 hours goes even shorter, because 1 hour and 53 minutes.

The fact that the trains will accelerate has been officially confirmed by Agnieszka Serbeńska with the PKP Intericty press team. – From March 12 this year it will be under the pipeline on the section Otwock – Lublin up to 160 km/h, thanks to which the journey between these cities will be shortened by a few minutes, and thus the journey from/to Warsaw – often.

I still have a question, when will the journey last the promised 90 minutes. With several months released, this could help in 2027.

Faster, but more expensive

Currently, PKP Intercity has introduced an increase in rail ticket prices. She explained the rising price of temperature. The company explained that in the United States in 2022, the price of energy management on the Polish Power Exchange by as much as 62.18 percent. You mentioned the possibility of finding a connection.

– It is worth noting that the current update is only the second systemic change in PKP Intercity ticket prices since 2013-2014. Forecasts of the latest indicators indicate that the operating cost per passenger could increase by 40 percent. – introduced in PKP Intercity.

Ticket prices fell on average by:

  • 17.8 percent for the EIP category;
  • • 17.4 percent for EIC category;
  • • 11.8 percent for the TLK/IC category.

Currently, a Lublin – Warszawa Centralna ticket costs PLN 57 in the second class and PLN 75 in the first class.
