San Marino. The FSMR assembly approved the budgets. New entry into the board
The annual meeting of the San Marino Rugby Federation was held on Monday evening.
Members unanimously approved the 2022 final balance and the 2023 forecast which will dictate the moves of the Federation to continue to trace the growth path started in recent years.
The 2022 that has just ended was, for the white and blue rugby movement, an extraordinary year from the point of view of sporting and organizational results. At international level, the men’s national team achieved an historic one silver medal at the Malta Conference 2 (in the picture). An extraordinary result resulting from the commitment of the athletes and all the staff, the latter reinforced with the aim of obtaining the minimums for the Games of the Small States of Malta 2023.
Great satisfaction also in terms of internal activity with the return of San Marino’s young rugby players in the Italian regional championship. For the first time in the 18 years of life of the San Marino movement, athletes are deployed in all categories, from under 7 to under 17. The recruitment activity of the last few years, carried out jointly with the San Marino Rugby Club , has borne fruit: in October 2022, the enrollment of children and young people more than doubled, reaching almost 40 units.
Also noteworthy is the return to Women’s Italian Cup for Rugby Club San Marino after years of collaborations with other clubs. It includes about 10 San Marino athletes including veterans and new recruits and as many girls from the surrounding area. The activity is functional to the debut on the field of the San Marino national rugby sevens team, another goal in 2023 together with the participation of the men’s national team in the Games of Small States.
He was nominated during the meeting Mattia Bastianelli Gambini as a new member of the Federal Council, following the resignation of Luana Cima. Bastianelli, an active athlete, has played in the top Austrian league in recent months with Rugby Union Donau Wien and has also played in Romagna, a team that plays in the Italian Serie A.
