Monaco continues in pain against AJA (3-2)
Monaco faced AJ Auxerre this evening in a deserted Stade Louis-II to confirm their good series. Thanks to goals from Ben Yedder, Ben Seghir and Embolo, ASM won in pain 3-2, despite a clear domination in the first period, but ASM fell back in their crossings in the second act.
At the start of the match, the Monegasques played high and moved towards the attack, and were going to open the scoring from the 10th minute of play. Very well served by Fofana, Wissam Ben Yedder adjusted the Auxerre goalkeeper and scored his 12th goal of the season in the league. Monaco largely dominated and created a lot of chances, and managed to make the break at the half-hour mark. Ben Seghir, the Monegasque nugget, scored a splendid goal from outside the penalty area.
When they returned from the locker room, the Monegasques were off and let AJA regain control of the ball. The visitors were logically going to reduce the score 20 minutes from the end. Abline took advantage of ASM’s defensive largesse to beat Nübel. The Asemists were totally asleep and Nübel’s post had just saved his team. Ten minutes from the end, Monaco will have to kill the match thanks to Embolo, who catapulted a strike under Radu’s bar, but true to herself, ASM was going to make another defensive error and Nuno Da Costa took the opportunity to restore hope to Auxerre.
With this result, Monaco clings to the pace of the lead and remains 4th, 4 points behind Lens, which was overtaken by Marseille. Sunday, the men of Philippe Clément will move on the lawn of Clermont to continue this good series in the championship.
