Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden will have a busy February with details of an overseas tour released.
Their Royal Highnesses will travel to Australia and New Zealand on February 13-18 to strengthen relations between Sweden and both nations. They will travel together with Aid and Foreign Trade Minister Johan Forssell.
The couple will first visit Australia from February 13 to 15, starting their visit to Canberra with a trip to the embassy before attending a ceremony at the National Museum of Australia and ending the day with a dinner with the Governor-General, King Charles III’s representative in Australia.
On the 14th they start the day in Canberra and then travel to Sydney for an evening reception. The 15th will be a busy day with several meetings and events, including visiting the Sydney Opera House and Botanic Gardens.
The Crown Princess and her husband will then be in New Zealand on February 16-18. After arriving in Wellington they visit Parliament in Wellington. On the 17th they will have another busy day and will meet the Governor General of New Zealand for a lunch and the Mayor of Wellington for a dinner among other things.
There are several main themes to this journey. While the trip will focus on promoting Swedish companies, Victoria and Daniel will also meet various organizations working in sustainability, healthcare and sports groups.
The Crown Princess has had a bit of a stressful January after her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, commented in an interview how he viewed the changes made to the inheritance laws in the 1970s and said they were unfair to his son. Victoria did not become Crown Princess until these laws were enacted, but she has not commented on her father’s thoughts.
Crown Princess Victoria has visited Australia before. On her trip in 2005, she had several engagements, including meeting children at a Swedish school and attending a gala to celebrate Swedish fashion in Australia.
