AS Monaco dominates Auxerre and continues its good series
Thanks to goals from Wissam Ben Yedder, Eliesse Ben Seghir and Breel Embolo, the Red and Whites won 3-2 against the Burgundians and signed a sixth match without defeat.
A victory won with forceps! In a match rich in goals and thanks to a very good first period, AS Monaco won 3-2 against AJ Auxerre at the Stade Louis-II and thus increased their unbeaten streak to six ( four wins, two draws). A success that allows them to stay in fourth place and get closer to Lens. Report.
The context 📅
Only four days later the draw won at the Stade Vélodrome (1-1), the Red and Whites host AJ Auxerre at the Stade Louis-II, on behalf of the 21st day. With the aim of continuing the good series in progress (three wins, two draws) which also started again 35 days earlier at the Abbé Deschamps Stadiumduring the first leg.
We saw this weekend that Troyes took a point against Lens, and that Stade de Reims managed to snag Paris Saint-Germain at home. So there are no big differences between the teams. That’s why I want to see the same mentality from my players against Auxerre, as what I saw in Marseille.

The composition 👥
To try to get the three points, Philippe Clement opt to keep the same device seen for a few weeks, namely a 4-2-3-1. However, two changes are worth noting compared to the meeting in Marseille with the return of Mohamed Camara from suspension and the entry of Gelson Martins on the right wing in place of Krépin Diatta, absent this evening.

The scenario 🎞
Like his last two games against Ajaccio (7-1) and Marseille (1-1), AS Monaco made a very good ename and monopolized the ball. The first opportunity comes in the 8th minute by Axel Disasi who tries a long shot, slightly above the crossbar (8th). Their domination was rewarded three minutes later by the inevitable Wissam Ben Yedder with a cross shot from the left (11′). With this but, he becomes so alone club’s third top scorer with 90 achievements.

Eliesse Ben Seghir in repeat offender mode
Despite the opener, the Red and Whites did not let go of their grip and Gelson Martins lost his duel against Ionut-Andrei Radu, well out on his feet (13th). However, the Auxerre goalkeeper could do nothing after half an hour of play on the sublime strike from Eliesse Ben Seghir who lodged at his first post (30th). His third but of the season, the three facing… Auxerre. The Burgundian reaction is intended to be timid with simply a recovery from Isaak Touré above (34th), without danger for Alex Nübel.

The start of the second half, on the other hand, is more balanced. Christophe Pélissier’s men then gained confidence over the minutes, and launched in depth, Matthis Abline reduced the mark by winning his face to face against the Monegasque goalkeeper (68th). On their product, they are even very close to equalizing but Nuno Da Costa’s attempt hits the post (72nd).
A victory won by forceps
This occasion awakens the players of AS Monaco who represent the front and at the end of a great collective action, vanderson shifts Breel Embolo into the box. The Swiss striker does not hesitate and sends a missile under the bar of Radu (82nd) for his 11th goal of the season. But no time to savor since Auxerre reduced the mark again by Nuno Da Costa (85th). Without consequence, the score remaining as it is during the last ten minutes.
