work in progress for the safety of viale Arona and Statale 16
Work in progress between Statale 16 and viale Arona where a construction site has been opened to make both roads safe. The municipal administration is in fact building a new separation wall between the state road and viale Arona, completing it with the guard rail. The intervention had already begun for the southernmost part of viale Arona: now it will be completed up to the intersection with viale Vercelli. The construction site should be closed by early spring. These works are part of a wider redevelopment and safety improvement activity in the city: through Pnrr funds, three bridges will be made safe and parapets and road barriers will also be consolidated or renewed, as in the case of viale Arona. The scheduled extraordinary maintenance interventions primarily concern the bridge over viale Castrocaro, the bridge over the Rio Melo of the state road and the bridge over the Rio Marano in viale Tortona. The extraordinary maintenance of the 3 bridges, whose works were designed following technical investigations, are entirely financed with contributions from the Pnrr and aimed at restoring the degraded concrete in the bridge structures, such as decks, abutments and piers to ensure bridge safety. The works, for a total value of 594 thousand euros, also include the adaptation of the road safety barriers on the state road 16 in the section between the bridge over the Rio Marano and the border with the municipality of Rimini, in addition to the adaptation to the safety standards of the protective railings of via Da Verrazzano. “In the case of via Arona – explained the councilor for Public Works and Mobility Simone Imola -, we are going to make two roads safe, one of which is the Statale 16: also for this reason it is an intervention that I consider very important “.
