Brussels transferred 81% of the amount programmed in PT 2020 until December
The European Commission transferred to Portugal, until the end of 2022, 81% of the amount programmed in Portugal 2020 (PT 2020), placing the country in seventh place among the States that received the most.

Thus, Brussels has already transferred 81% of the amount programmed in PT 2020 to Portugal.
At the end of December, Portugal ranked second in terms of the rate of interim payments, taking into account the States with the largest financial envelopes (seven million euros).
Portugal is 6.4 percentage points above the European average (74.6%).

Considering all Member States, Portugal appears in seventh place, behind Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Romania and Germany.
The EC transferred a total of 360,378 million euros to the 28 Member States, with Portugal receiving 6% of that amount.
In the period in question, payments to beneficiaries amounted to 23,200 million euros in funds, equivalent to 86% of total PT 2020 funds.
Competitiveness and internationalization stand out with the highest concentration of payments (7,180 million euros), followed by human capital (4,339 million euros) and rural development (4,045 million euros).
The largest volume of payments was made in the ERDF – European Regional Development Fund, with 627 million euros compared to September of the same year.
In turn, at the end of the year, fund approvals stood at €31,200 million to support €54,000 million of investments.
At the end of the second half, 23,000 million euros of funds had been executed.
With a global allocation of around 26,000 million euros, the PT 2020 program consists of a partnership agreement between Portugal and the European Commission, “in which the principles and programming priorities for the economic, social and territorial development policy are established of Portugal, between 2014 and 2020”.
The first tenders of the PT 2020 program were opened in 2015.
