We know the teams at the start of the Energy Class series
The alternative energies meeting will take place from July 3 to 8, 2023 and will bring together the three emblematic series of the event: the Solar Class, the Open Sea Class and the Energy Class.
Organized by the Yacht Club of Monaco, in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge promises its share of new initiatives.
While the competitors in the Open Sea and Solar classes still have time to refine their registration file, the entries in the Energy category have just been revealed.
In total, 17 teams were validated by the technical committee out of 19 files submitted.
New arrivals will be at the party, likeAritra from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, with a project presenting hybrid hydrogen-battery propulsion.
The idea, in the future, is to add a wave energy capture system using a regenerative suspension.
Nine hydrogen projects in lice
The team Shakti of the sea from Kumaraguru College of Technology will also be at the start. Coming from India, the team is taking part in the event for the second consecutive year.
Two new Italian teams from Genoa and Messina are also entering the competition, as are two new French and German teams.
In all, nine hydrogen projects are in the running in this one-design class.
Created in 2018 by the Yacht Club de Monaco, this category calls on the ingenuity of the participants who must design the cockpit and the most efficient and enduring propulsion system using the renewable energies of their choice.
For this 10e edition, 15 universities, 2 industry teams and 10 nationalities will line up at the start of the event in Energy Class.
Registration for the Solar Class will close in mid-March, followed by the Open Sea Class in mid-June. The Environmental Symposium will take place on March 23 during Monaco Ocean Week.
