Russian Language Teaching in Indian Schools Discussed in New Delhi
On Monday, January 30, at the Russian House in New Delhi, India followed, a seminar “Russian Language and Literature in a Changing World: Values and Factors of Development” was held. This is reported by the information portal

The participants of the event talked about the spread of the Russian language in the South Asian country, about the peculiarities of teaching in India, and also discussed initiatives to support online courses, the sustainability of Pushkin’s power and other cultural issues.
The seminar was organized by the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL) together with the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL) with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation and the Russian House in New Delhi.
The meeting was attended by 50 people: teachers from universities and schools in India, as well as their Russian colleagues. The delegation of MAPRYAL was headed by the president of the association, adviser to the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Tolstoy.
President INDAPRYAL, Professor of the University. Maharaja Sayajirado Debal Dasgupta presented an overview of India’s initiative to develop electronic online Russian language courses on the national learning platform INFLIBNET.

Vice-President of INDAPRYAL, Professor and Head of the Department of Slavic and Finno-Ugric Studies of the Business University Niklashi Suryanarayan shared her experiences in the field of language teaching. Colleagues need it for film adaptation of Russian classics Andrei Tarkovsky, Alexei German – Jr. and other famous Soviet and Russian directors.
According to experts, it is the film text that allows students to focus on the nuances of the word game and metaphors, and helps them interpret the literary work being studied.
The program of the seminar, which discusses issues related to the use of high-style vocabulary and the unreasonable use of borrowings in the broad Russian language, on the peculiarities of studying Indian student language specialties in technical universities.
In addition, within the framework of the seminar, the outstanding Russian scholars of India were awarded with the medal “Fyodor Dostoevsky. 200 years.”
