North of Toulouse, Castelnau-d’Estrétefonds says goodbye to its former mayor Daniel Dupuy
The funeral of the former mayor of Castelnau-d’Etrétefonds, Daniel Dupuy, took place this afternoon. A wave of emotion surrounded the entrance of the coffin, in the town hall, followed by the mayor Sandrine Sigal, the family, the municipal council, the constituted bodies and the municipal staff.
In the wedding hall, the elected officials took turns every two minutes to take turns on guard, under the gaze of the family and staff, particularly moved, on the occasion of the last tribute paid to former mayor Daniel Dupuy .
Everyone was aware that the mayor they had met, just a year ago, was making his last stop at the town hall.
Daniel Dupuy’s commitment to Castelnau d’Estrétefonds began as municipal councilor from 1995 to 2001, delegate municipal councilor from 2001 to 2008, deputy mayor from 2008 to 2014 and mayor from 2014 to 2022. gave access to the title of Honorary Mayor, recalled Mayor Sandrine Sigal during her speech.
A committed and warm man
In a final tribute, the crowd present in front of the town hall began to applaud the release of the coffin before getting in marching order, behind the funeral convoy, to allow Daniel Dupuy to cross, one last time, the city that he loved so much and shaped greatly.
By taking the Grande rue and the rise of the rue de l’Église, in an impressive silence, everyone would surely recall the memories shared with the man or the chosen one they rubbed shoulders with. During the funeral, the many testimonies of friendship showed the attachment that everyone had for Daniel.
The speeches of his “class of 66” from the National School of Arts and Crafts in Bordeaux, then those of Airbus, the family and the mayor were poignant. Sandrine Sigal spoke of her admiration for this mentor who knew how to find the best in each of them. Then, she recalled his career of which he was so proud and the energy devoted to his common heart: “Today, Castelnau-d’Estrétefonds loses one of its most illustrious servants”.
Then, at the exit of the church, an equally impressive procession resumes its journey towards the cemetery to lead Daniel Dupuy to his last resting place, where a distinction was awarded to him posthumously by his “Gadzarts” engineer friends.
