disruptions to be expected in Toulouse –
For the second time, opponents of the pension reform, on strike, found themselves in the streets of Toulouse, which is causing major disruption in transport and schools. More details.
From 10 a.m. this Tuesday, January 31, thousands of demonstrators, on strike, will march through the streets of Toulouse to ask the government to withdraw its pension reform. If the previous mobilization day, which took place on January 19, was a great success with around 40,000 people in the Toulouse procession, the inter-union hopes to do better today. Unions announce a well-attended strikewhich should also generate disruption in the city center.
Transport impacted
First of all, public transport is experiencing major disruptions, as announced Tisseomainly on the bus network, on which one out of two drivers is on strike. In effect, lines 13, 14, 15, 23, 29, 39, 45, 63, 66, 70, Linéos 1, 8 and 9 as well as the Airport shuttle are diverted since 9 a.m. this morning. In general, all the lines using the streets of the city center are experiencing more or less significant delays, the traffic being driven by the procession of demonstrators. Similarly, Tisséo employees on strike distributing leaflets at the exit of depots, departures are slow. The metro, Téléo and TAD are operating normallywhen 8 out of 10 tram ramps are running.
SNCF also announces disruptions on its networks. Until tomorrow morning alone 2 out of 5 TER trains run, 1 out of 4 INOUÏ train on the Atlantic axis, 1 out of 2 train on the South-East axis, and 2 out of 5 OUIGO. Note that no Intercités will be on the rails, with the exception of those which will provide “a round trip Paris-Limoges-Toulouse and Bordeaux-Marseille”, specifies the SNCF.
No canteen in schools, in minimum service
In national education too, a large number of teachers and education personnel are on strike. For children whose supervisors are not present, the town hall of Toulouse has set up minimal service : primary school pupils are welcomed from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. at the Sept Deniers leisure center (110 route de Blagnac) and at the Petit Capitole center (153 avenue de Lardenne). Kindergarten students are directed to the Jean Zay school (7 rue des Bouquetins), the Fabre school (4 rue Saint-Jean), the Daste school (29 rue de Toulon) and the Petit Capitole centre. However, the service of canteen is not insuredit is therefore advisable to leave a picnic for the children.
