He is a musician who composes by cross-using loops and ambient sounds which he skilfully works with his cello, thanks to which he weaves sound textures of rare expressiveness.

Born in Vancouver, based in New York, after important and formative experiences in bands they come Rasputina and Antony and the Johnsonsin the last few years he has intensified his solo activity arriving at the realization of four albums and an EP.
In January 2019 it was released”Thunderstorm”, fifth solo album and second on theItalian label Leaf (after the text and dissonant”Asperities“).
The music of Julia Kent has been used in the soundtracks of several films (one of its songs appears in “This must be the place” by Paolo Sorrentino) and as an accompaniment to theatrical and dance performances (Manheim Ballet and Civil Ballet); she has toured Europe and North America, performing at festivals such as Primavera Sound in Barcelona, il Feast of the Donau in Austria and the Unsound Festival in New York. Worthy of note is undoubtedly”The end of the world”, multimedia work signed by Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnykfrom the same Julia Kent and from the collective Spime.Im: one immersive showmade under the Toni Festival on the Stonesto raise public awareness of the environmental emergency.
From 2021 the soundtrack composed for “Stories from the sea”, documentary film Of Jola Wieczorek presented to Viennale (Vienna) which tells a story linked to our Mediterranean and which, last year, earned it the award for “Best music in a documentary film” at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival Of Saarbrücken (Germany).
The appointment is included in the Tradizione in Movimento calendar. The activities of the Musicus Concentus Association are realized thanks to the contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Florence, the Metropolitan City of Florence and the CR Firenze Foundation.
