SALZBURG. According to preliminary results, the SPÖ achieved its historically worst election result in the state elections in Lower Austria on Sunday (20.66 percent; -3.26 percentage points). The Salzburg state party chairman of the SPÖ, David Egger, comments on the Lower Austria elections as follows:
Loss of trust not favored by the SPÖ
“Franz Schnabl and his team conducted a committed election campaign. Apparently, however, it has unfortunately not been possible to turn the loss of confidence in the ÖVP into an increase in votes for the Social Democrats,” regrets the Salzburg SPÖ leader.
Egger rated it positive that the conservative omnipotence has now been broken: “The loss of the absolute ÖVP majority will do Lower Austria good,” said Egger.
