Icelandic star Bjrk brings a concert theater to Prague. Priority purchase
The last time she performed at a solo concert in the Czech Republic was in 1995. It was for Palci Kultury. Since then, she has been visiting them twice, at music festivals. The first time in 1998 at the JAM festival, the second time in 2015 at Colors of Ostrava.
So her fans had to wait many years for a solo concert. It will take place on September 16, 2023, in the O2 are, and will bring the Cornucopia show here.
The Cornucopia concept is not only a concert performance, but also a spectacular theatrical performance and multimedia show. It premiered in New York in 2019. It was created in collaboration with Argentinian filmmaker Lucrecia Martel, the 50-piece Icelandic choir Hamrahlid and a large number of female musicians.
The critics who came out after the premiere in New York started praising to the heavens. Everyone agrees that the combination of song, music and visual projections is something that will absorb all your senses. It’s such a strong activist performance with an environmental pedigree.
In her more than forty-year career, Icelandic musician Bjrk has produced music ranging from electronica, dog pop, experimental music, trip hop to classical or avant-garde music. She became famous as a singer at the age of twenty-one in the rock group Sugarcubes. When the band broke up in 1992, she began to pursue the dream of bold words.
She has released a total of ten studio albums, the last one called Fossora was released in 2022. It earned a Grammy nomination and deals with the themes of isolation, loss and alum. It was created during the covid era and after the death of her mother.
Tickets for the Bjrk concert at the O2 Arena will go on sale to the public from 9 a.m. on Friday, February 3, but thanks to iDNES Premium, you can buy tickets in advance from Wednesday, February 1, from 9 a.m..
