According to the available data on the portals Minimum wage Slovakia is in 6th place from the end in terms of the amount of the minimum wage of a country in the European Union. Our western neighbors only have a slightly lower minimum wage. The Czechs receive the least income at €720.
Luxembourg is advancing, the Bulgarians are pulling the short end of the stick with minimum wages
Luxembourg is the best, with their minimum wage rising to €2,387.40 this year, and Germany is not far behind, with a minimum wage of €2016. The top three is rounded off by Belgium, where people with the lowest income remember at least €1,995 (gross) every month.

Finally, at the very bottom of the table is Bulgaria, whose minimum wage is up to 300 euros lower than ours, and the lowest-earning Bulgarians have a monthly income of only 400 euros. Our southern neighbors earn slightly more than the Bulgarians. In Hungary, the minimum wage reached the level of 585 euros in 2023, while it improved significantly compared to last year (€443).

In Slovakia, approximately 217,000 people receive the minimum wage, which represents about 4% of the workforce. “The majority of employees who work in Slovakia for wages close to the minimum wage level work in the field of services, agriculture and the food industry,” Ján Košč writes for OZ Pracučua khrodova.
What is important is what a person can buy for the minimum wage
The problem is comparing the minimum wage between EU countries that have minimum wages included. According to Košč, it is important to compare what an employee can buy for the minimum wage. “A German with their minimum wage will buy more goods and services than a Slovak with our minimum wage,” adds.
