Monaco suffocated Asvel – Basket Actu
Even being on alternating current, Monaco had the resources to overcome a Villeurbannaise team (72-63).
With Monaco you never really know what to expect. The awesome steamroller face or that of the team playing small arms? On the floor of the Astroballes, it was first the second that the Roca Team proposed. Faced with a Villeurbannais team that was well paced and collectively coherent in the proposed game, the Roca Team relied on the individual exploits of mike james. Despite a good passage of Retina ObasohanMonaco even managed to finish the first quarter with a parity score (16-16, 10′).
Afterwards, Elie Okobo, champion last year with Asvel, took responsibility in attack, or turned into a passer when the situation required it. It was with the vista of its combo that the Roca Team let the storm pass and remained in contact at the break (34-34, 20′).
Upon returning from the locker room, the troops of Sasa Obradovic finally decide to start playing. More aggressive in defense, they were much less permissive in defense, like the hyper-activity in this area of the new Monegasque Chima Moneke. By adding to it the heat stroke ofAlpha Diallothe championship leader took control of the match (45-49, 30′).
But Asvel had not said its last word. Antoine Diot and Retin Obasohan gave the Rocher team a hard time defending. But by circularizing the ball and striving to keep the Villeurbannais running, Monaco continued to maintain a good small lead (50-57, 35′). Except that Obasohan, still as hot, ended up hinting at the possibility of a comeback (55-59, 36′). But only a few seconds, the time that Monaco plays on its width of bench and a Mike James way sniper to pinch the debates definitively.
