Christos Zafeiris: Slavia has a Norwegian miracle, Kovář is already a manager
The last few days in Slavia were not only spent preparing for the first spring league duel against Jablonec, the club’s management managed to secure the arrival of the Norwegian youth representative Christos Zafeiris, whom they speak of as a great generational talent. The 19-year-old midfielder signed a contract with Eden until the end of June 2027, and Jaroslav Tvrdík introduced him to the fans before the match against Jablonec. On the other hand, Přemysl Kovář said goodbye to them, who – as announced some time ago by the newspaper Sport – ended his active career and moved to the role of manager of the A-team.
“We believe that Christos will be a valid reinforcement for Slavia. He is nineteen years old, he will be able to improve his already interesting football skills with us. We hope that he will follow in the footsteps of Alexander Bah and Aiham Ousou, who acclimatized perfectly in our environment,” said the club’s sports director Jiří Bílek.
According to him, Slavia is getting a “typology of a player, a fast and strong midfielder, which will allow the coaching team to vary even more when creating lineups.”
“My personal goal is to show people that I’m a good player. To show that I can play from the start and be an important team player. The team’s goals are always to try to win, get to the Champions League and play in Europe. Also win the league and the cup. I can’t wait to get started. Slavia is a great club, I’m happy to be here and I’m looking forward to the experience I’ll gain here,” said Christos Zafeiris after signing a 4.5-year contract.
The Norwegian with Greek roots has an impressive profile, at the age of nineteen he has already recorded over eighty competitive matches and is one of the mainstays of the Norwegian twenty-one team. In this, 29 games ended for Haugesund in the Elitserien, he scored four goals and recorded another five.
On the other hand, Přemysl Kovář definitively ended his playing career before the duel against Jablonec. The 37-year-old goalkeeper, who was involved in four championship titles and three cup triumphs, is moving to the position of manager of the A-team.
