Inter Milan put Croatian star Brozović on the transfer list – Chelsea and Real Madrid are competing for his signature
Marcelo Brozovićafter being one of the key players of Inter Milan for eight years, he is now leaving the club.
Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport reveals the reasons why Inter put Brozović on the transfer list despite the fact that less than a year ago he extended his contract with Inter until 2026 and thus received an increase to 6.5 million euros per year and bonuses, making him one of the highest paid players in the club.
“Inter, which for years was Brozovic-centric and everything revolved around the Croat, this season, due to his injuries, which caused him to miss as many as 14 games, as well as his bad form, realized that they can do without him. After all, Brozović was last in Inter’s first team on September 18 of last year,” writes Gazzetta dello Sport.
They also state that Brozović is too expensive and that he turned 30 years old. He played a total of 243 games for Inter Milan and scored 24 times. And for the Croatian national team, he played 83 times and scored 7 goals.
“Brozović’s case is proof that everything in football can change completely in just a few months, as early as September Brozovic was the king at Inter, someone without whom neither the present nor the distant future can be imagined, and now he is for sale,” the article adds.
According to transfermarkt.com current value the Croatian midfielder is around 35 million euros. And he was also a key player for Croatia at the World Cup in Qatar, where he played alongside Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić.
Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter’s rival Juventus – all have already shown interest in Marcelo Brozović. If he does indeed join either Real Madrid or Chelsea, he could reunite his midfield partnership with Modric at Real or Kovacic at Chelsea.
